Lets talk about Garage floors

We've got Garage Floor options for you

For over 25 years we’ve been providing options for garage floor finishes.

We continually watch overseas trends and bring the best options to New Zealand.

  • Sparta-Flake is a decorative floor coating with coloured flakes and uses Polyaspartic resin.  Think Epoxy on Steroids. Superior performance, great look.
  • Sparta-Guard is the same polyaspartic resin as Sparta-Flake, but as a solid colour.
  • Roll coat epoxy – Thin epoxy coating – good performance, cheaper.
  • Self level epoxy – Thicker epoxy, more durable
  • Metallic FX – very custom resin flooring with WOW factor.
  • Grind and seal – removes the concrete surface to expose the aggregate, then clear sealed.
  • Diamond Polished Concrete – Mechanically polished concrete (more refined)

Sparta-Flake

Sparta-Flake is by far our most popular flooring option for garage floors.  It offer a decorative finish and a very high level of durability. In terms of resin based flooring options, it’s the answer to just about all the short comings of epoxy.

The system most often has a moisture barrier/primer, then a colour basecoat of Polyaspartic. We broadcast a blend of coloured flake into the wet basecoat.  This is scraped and sanded once the resin dries and cleaned up to remove the dust.  We then apply 1 heavy coat of Polyaspartic or 2 thinner roll coats with antislip.

  • Polyaspartic is 3-5 times more abrasion resistant (lasts so much longer)
  • Polyaspartic is UV stable – will not discolour or degrade with UV exposure
  • Polyaspartic can withstand up to 148 Deg C heat (epoxy is about 50-60)
  • Polyaspartic offers betterer chemical resistance
  • Polyaspartic can be recoated in as little as 45 Minutes (most epoxy is next day)
  • Offers much faster install and return to use times (often saving days)

Sparta-Guard

Sparta-Guard is a popular flooring option for garage floors.  It offer a plain colour finish and a very high level of durability. We use the same resin as Sparta-Flake, but overall it’s a thinner coating.

Our usual application uses a Moisture barrier/Primer, then 2 roll coats of coloured Polyaspartic.  This can be with or without a slip reduction additive.

Tuff Floor 51

Water based epoxy systems (roll coats)

Tuff Floor 51 is a high grade waterborne epoxy resin floor coating that gives a durable colour coating to garage concrete floors.  It’s a great budget friendly option to tidy up and seal discoloured, stained or repaired concrete floors.  It makes a garage floor look great.

The system involves concrete grinding to prepare the concrete for coating and maximum bonding.  Then a primer coat is applied, followed by 2 coats of coloured epoxy.

We have a few options with regards to a urethane top coat for added abrasion and chemical resistance and the option to add a slip reduction additive.

Tuff Floor 41

Solvent free epoxy systems (roll coats or self Level)

Tuff Floor 41 is a solvent and water free epoxy resin floor coating that gives a durable colour coating to concrete floors.  It’s a bit more “solid” that the waterbased 41 system in that the coatings are thicker.  A bit higher abrasion resistance and greater impact resistance.

the Tuff Floor 41 systems can be roll coats or much thicker Self levelling/smoothing systems for floors that need greater impact resistance.

The system involves concrete grinding to prepare the concrete for coating and maximum bonding.  Then a primer coat is applied, followed by 2 coats of coloured epoxy.

Metallic FX

Where freeform art meets garage flooring

Metallic FX is a very fancy epoxy resin coating system using clear resin and metallic pigments.  The pigments suspend at different angle giving different colour tones and creating organic effects.

Single or multiple colours can be used and various application techniques used to create one off floors.

The system involves concrete grinding to prepare the concrete for coating and maximum bonding.  Then a primer coat is applied, followed by a thick layer of Metallic epoxy.  Finally a protection layer of polyaspartic or Urethane is applied for scuff and scratch reduction.
